We are happy that we can announce that two student bursaries of 500 Euros each are available for participants of the Workshop "Tools for Chemical Bonding 2019", sponsored by the European
Crystallographic Association. These bursaries are intended to support students who have to face a long and expensive travel to come to the workshop. If you wish to apply for one of these
bursaries, please send us a letter detailing how the support would help covering the travel costs, and why you are otherwise short of sufficient travel funds through your home institution. Please
also read the ECA guidelines for travel support pasted below. We are willing to interpret rule 1. loosely if you can show any kind of affiliation to an institution in the ECA region.
The deadline for submission of the application letter is June 2nd. Applications should be sent via e-mail to AG-Grabowsky or Simon Grabowsky. The organizing committee will select the bursary winners.
The ECA funds should be used to support young scientists (under 35) from the ECA "region", with priority to less developed countries.
The applicant should be registered in the World Directory of Crystallographers,
which is free.
The successful applicant should become Individual Member of ECA.
There should be a reasonable geographical distribution of the fellowships. In particular, the organising country should not dominate the list of awards. National meetings should use the grant to attract young participants from other countries. The gender balance should also be taken into consideration.
An applicant should be presenting author of an accepted abstract (applies to conferences, symposia and other meetings, whose main purpose is the presentation of scientific results).
The ECA support should be acknowledged in the conference materials, web pages, and announcements. Where possible, the ECA logo should accompany the acknowledgment. Participants should be aware of being recipient of an ECA bursary.
Within 3 months after the meeting, the organisers should provide for the Executive Committee a short report indicating how the ECA support was used to help young participants (including a list of their names and email addresses) and secondly, for inclusion in ECA News, a brief statement summarizing the event. The bursary holders themselves should send a short scientific report.
The registration fee is 100 € per participant upon acceptance.
To provide a valuable learning experience, the number of participants is restricted to 55. You will be informed about your acceptance to the workshop in early March 2019. Only then, you need to pay the registration fee of 100 €.
The organizing committee will select the participants based on a scientific abstract for a poster presentation, a cover/motivation letter, and a short CV. To enhance diversity, the committee may also consider nationality, affiliated university and gender.
When accepted, payment is due until April 7, 2019.
Payment details were provided with the acceptance notification e-mail.
If you have any questions or feedback please use our contact form.
The poster should be related to your own research question, which does not have to be related to the development or application of tools for chemical bonding analysis. The size is A0, portrait.
